Default Not using the car...

Let's assume the car (not mine) will not be used for 1 complete year. What would be bad for the car and how would you best conserve it? I know it will be bad for the oil, the battery, the tires, but what else could be harmed by not using/driving it for so long? Also, when letting the car sit outside in a secure environment during that period in the rain and sun, what else could be harmed? Thx for any info

Yeah, it's not good for the car. Probably want to change the oil right before and "winterize" it like you'd winterize a boat. Fogging oil in the intake for instance. A fuel stabilizer in the fuel tank.

I'd probably put it up on jack stands too and maybe even cover the tires with plastic trash bags.

Look into winterizing a boat and use the techniques they do.

It's really bad to not drive the car for too long -- it's bad for your health

Don't worry too much. Just get a dust cover, deflate the tires, unplug your battery (if it's parked in your garage), and give the car a hug before you store it. When you are done, get an oil change (some will say to do this before storing it ... not sure if my way's the best way), balance & inflate the tires, and go drive around for 30 mins or so in non-stop and go traffic (so that the battery charges properly).

I haven't driven my S2k for almost four months and since I forgot to unplug the battery I might have to buy a new battery!

Here's a thread with everything you ever wanted to know about storing a car (and then some):

And no, don't put the car up on jackstands. Unloading the suspension for long periods of time is NOT good. Just go read that link.

Why don't you consider selling the car, and then buying a new one when you're ready to drive again?

That would cost $6300 dollars extra because that's the tax we need to pay to register a new car of this type.
