Leaving for 6 months, what needs to be done with the S
I'm leaving for about 6 months and I need to know what I need to do with my car. I have someone who I can trust to take care of it for me. Do I need to have him start it or drive it every now and then? How much gas do I leave in it? Oil change before I leave? Things like that. Thanks!!!

well, if you are not gonna drive the car, put the car on the stands, 4 wheels off, top the engine oil and top the gasoline. Battery cable off. after you come back, do the oil change, and try to suck out all the gasoline.

I wouldn't drain the gas out when you get back, just put a bottle of fuel stabalizer in with a FULL tank of gas, unhook the battery and everything should be fine. Just check the air in the tires when you get back, hook the battery back up and go for a long overdue drive!

I use Stabill for the fuel stabalizer in anything I store. It works great and it also acts as a cleaner for the fuel system. When you put it in, be sure to run the car for a while to be sure the treated fuel gets through the lines and injectors.

Contact "OhioRacer". He has accummulated all the "good" suggestions from this board and put them all into a set of "storage instructions" that he's willing to send out to anyone who asks. These things have been discussed at length here, and he's weeded out the bad ones and the "unnecessary" ones. It's a very comprehensive list.

thanks for the concern, and I will be!!! sorry to say that this thread is all for not. I wrecked the S yesterday. I was going around a uturn and I guess I was too heavy on the gas and I spun out. some old dude in an old soccer mom tried to slow down but it was too late. My front right fender, front bumper, and just basically the front right everything is F***ed. my front right wheel is bent in and at about a 45 degree angle. we'll see what happens but if it gets totaled out I'm buying a beater and starting to deliver pizzas to pay for my high insurance
