Default Notched headlight beams

Does anyone else get really annoyed by the notches? I know that they're to keep from blinding oncoming traffic, but it looks bad IMO.

I want to get the clear plastic headlights - maybe I'll get the driver's side from Japan and the right side from Europe and aim them a bit lower.

Anyone know if they look the same or will I have mis-matched headlights?

You can modify the notch if you want to remove the part and flatten it. It is very difficult to access. I have some that I modified to almost no notch but will wait until the next time I pull the headlights before attempting to change them.
