Default Now she's de-flowered!!

I finally did it.
After 10 months of commenting "she's flawless",
I went and drove the chin spoiler into a GD curb yesterday.
Not exactly into but not over either. And of all places,
my neighborhood shopping center I go to all the time.
Boy, did I feel like a DA.
Practically speaking, anyone have any wonderful suggestions
for minimizing the road rash, short of re-painting?
There is some very minor gouging (if you can say minor
and gouging in the same sentence!), but mostly silver
scratched to white. I tried some rubbing compound
but it did'nt do much.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

OUCH! Sorry to hear about that. Of course i did my first (yes, there were more) crunch into a parking curb so long ago that i'd almost forgotten how much that one hurt. Anyways, I cheated and bought a metal lip tp protect the bottom of the bumper. Coastal Metals has one that works well with either a spoiler or not. Since I did not have the spoiler, it looks like the piece was stock. I added a black vinyl tape (like electrical tape) across the bottom edge of the bumper where it meets up with the metal piece, so it is more difficult now to see the gouges.

Good luck with yours.

wow, it took you 10 months before you scratched your chin? took me about 3 weeks! but that was on a driveway. i don't have any suggestions about how to fix your current scratches. most of mine are underneath and can't be seen - i figure eventually, when i really get used to the height and the damage gets bad enough, i'll just go replace the front spoiler.

Well, I failed to mention, this is my 3rd s2k.
Have actually owned "one" since 9/00.
I should have known better which is what really pisses me off.
This is;however, the longest time I've owned one that
remained virginal... until yesterday.
In the immortal words of Freddie Mercury,
"another one bites the dust" (or curb, so it seems!)

Welcome back to the forum Lisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got no suggestions. I scratched the right fender on mine a month after I got the short block replacement. It was the day I spent with Wade from Valley Motor Honda, the best mechanic I've known.

Then two months later Wade died, unexpectedly, of a heart arrythmia. He was 35, married, many wonderful kids and a wonderful wife. He was playing softball when it happened.

I decided to keep my scratch to memorialize the last day I spent with him.

Lisa,
I am so sorry to hear the news! I hope everything
works out and your poor baby is mended as good as
new.

PS: Three times a charm - remember.

Barry and Rowland:

My old buds, so nice of you to "call".
I haven't heard from either of you in a while, how the hell are you guys?
Barry, so sorry to hear about the demise of your friend/mechanic. Let's hope the scratches are not some kind of omen. Personally, I can't take any more losses right now so just have to assume my scratched chin was the result of not paying attention. BTW, my 17 year old was with me, the day before her first prom and we were:
picking up her dress from the seamstress
getting her corsage
making her manicure appointment
discussing "updo's"
picking up her shoes
talking about curfews
I can't imagine why I was distracted!
Needless to say, my glass of wine sat close by as I attempted to "undo" the damage!
Rowland, if you ever decide to come south and Barry, east, please look me up. You have both provided me with endless comfort and support over the last year and a half and I'd love the opportunity to actually meet you.
Take care.
Peace.
Lisa
