Now THIS is weird!
I dont know what it is with the last three to four bars. when those are the only bars left I think my mpg drops to 8-10 mpg

Never had that problem at fill up, but the last 1/4 tank is just a guess...
I personally enjoy the 4 bars, then 3 bars after 5 miles, then 2 bars after 10 miles, then 1 bar after 20 miles, then 0 bars after 5 miles, then 1 bar 5 later, then 2 another few later... then straight back to 0.

Alright, I've got a new one (to me) that happened to me last week. I ran the tank past 0 bars (the gas light came on), and parked at work.
A couple hours later, I started the car up, drove a block or two, and noticed the gas gauge was slowly climbing from 0 all the way back to full... it took about 20 seconds for it to go all the way to full. Then, as I was driving, it appeared to drop one bar per mile (it dropped 3 bars) that I drove.
I was pretty freaked, so I went to fill up as soon as I could.
