Doesn't pulling the battery cable or the fuse also reset the ECU? You don't need special tools to pull the battery cable for 30 seconds.

I don't know if this works on the s2k, but pulling the clock/radio fuse on my prelude for 30 seconds resets the ecu.

+1 on pullng the negative cable off the battery for 30 seconds. BUT, be sure you have the code for your OEM audio system before you do. Otherwise you won't be able to use the radio or cd until you visit the dealer and perhaps pay them to pull the head unit and get the info they need to retrieve the code.

The reason for the high cost of the equus scanner is that it is a much more feature rich scanner...it probably displays text identifying the meaning of the code as well as just the numeric codes. It can also read and interpret manufacturer specific codes. There are other features as well that they describe in the ebay ad.

Clearing the code is one thing. Knowing why you are getting it is another. The generic cheap-o readers are fine as long as you have a table to show what the code means in an S2000.

Can't you just pull the backup fuse from under the dash? It's the second fuse in on the top row. Not worth it to buy an OBD II scanner just to reset the CEL, IMHO. If you want to tell what code was thrown, then go for it.

Otherwise just pull the fuse for 30 seconds. And you don't need to reset your radio.

I tried to make this as idiot proof as possible.
Use a good flashlight or shop light and it'll make life easier.
Pull for 30 seconds. Put it back. CEL gone. Car will idle a little oddly after resetting the ECU as it'll "learn" timing again. That's normal.

And I personally wouldn't clear a CEL without knowing what it was.
And don't mind all the extra wires and connectors....
