Default The Obsessive Compulsive Thread

The thread on closing doors got me thinking...I have many what I like to call...ahem...rituals (read obsessive compulsive) when it comes to my S.

1. Before I wash my S, I open the trunk and clean around the trunk lid with a damp cloth.
2. When I clean out the inside, I always wipe down the interior of the canvas top even though it never is particularly dirty.
3. Every time I gas up, I reset both trip odometers.
4. When I get out of the car I slide the seat back to make it easier to get out. But, I try ever so hard not to go all the way back because I read a thread a while ago that said the seat belt housing will wear out the back of the seat in one particular spot.
5. When I wash my car, I clean both sides of those little black "mud guard" things under the car in front of the tires.
6. I always find a parking spot that's next to a curb so that if somebody else parks next to me their passenger door is next to my car (to lower the odds of door dings since every car must have a driver, but every car doesn't have to have a passenger).
7. I try to park so the back end of my car is away from the sun since I read a thread about the back red reflectors fading.
8. I clean each little hole in the headrest "beehive" with a Q-tip. Ok, that one's not true, but I've thought about it. I do use Q-tips to clean around the lug nuts, though.

What do you other obsessive compulsive people do?

Make sure I wash and dry both of my Hayame mufflers when washing the car. Not just the tips, and not just the parts that can be seen...the whole thing. I've seen people at shows wash jusr part of it, and you can see the "dirty" line. It looks terrible.

99% of the time I back in to a parking space and I also try to find a space next to a curb and pull way over toward the curb - no door dings yet, knock on wood!!

I don't see anything particularly obsessive about your list (well, except for the first part of #8).
You might try cleaning the lug nuts with a half inch paint brush instead of Q-tips though (much faster).
Don't forget to clean and wax the trunk runoff channels and door sills!

Luvox, paxil, prozac....

you don't check your oil levels!? What about tire pressure?!

No matter what you do things break and stuff happens. If its your primary ride and you worry about everything, its just not worth it.

I also clean around all the emblems (S2000 and H) and the door handles using Q-Tips after every wash.

God forbid if I'm gassing up and let a drop of gas hit the inside of the gas tank cover somewhere. Sometimes they have paper towels to clean it up. Otherwise, it's into the store for some toilet paper.

I always park in the back of the parking lot to avoid door dings. I still have one anyway. I also look for other nice cars to park next to because I know that they will be careful and not hit my door when they leave. I also check to see if the same car is still parked next to my car when I leave and if it isn't I immediately start looking for dings. I also tell people not to lean on my door because I don't want any leaks to start. I also have memorized all of the bumps in the road in my city and know exactly what lane to drive in to avoid them. I will also leave work to wash bird crap off my car. And I don't want to get started on pumping gas. OMG, I let it drip forever, and then try to time the time between drips to take the pump all the way out. I can go on forever.

You know when you wash your car and an endless supply of water comes out from under the door sills? That drives me nuts!
