I guess I'm fortunate that my tranny does not have this problem. It must vary from car to car.

How close to the floor does your clutch start to engage? If it's pretty close to the floor, and I suspect that it is, then it is extremely important to floor the clutch when shifting. Otherwise, you're shifting while under power and will surely cause the transmission to grind.

I don't think that it's too early too change your transmission fluid. I was reading about a Tremec transmission breakin procedure and they only said to break it in for 15 minutes. BTW, I changed mine at 18,000 miles and it looked new, still.

junehhan, I noticed mine doing the same exact thing! I have an 02 bought in July and with the clutch fully depressed, it will either have a notchy feeling or even an actual slight grind. Only on two occasions did I miss a shift from 1 - 2 and it is annoying as hell not to mention nerve racking.

My clutch pedal is completely to the floor when I shift. I have tried taking every bit of human error out, but it still seems to do it occasionally. Something I have noticed, is that the faster I slam the shifter into 2nd gear, the less likely it is to grind it going into 2nd. If i've been idling at a light for a while, or i'm facing uphill, it will also slightly grind 1st gear going in from neutral as well.

No 1-2 gear grind whatever with my '02 @6200miles. There is a subtle notchiness in the 2-3 shift that occurs most of the time - that has been there since the beginning, but it never shows up as a metallic grinding.

GM Syncromesh Transmission Fluid ??

GM tranny oil into a Honda ? I'm a little hesistant in doing so. Are there any better brands ?

More importantly, what is the "Zaino" of transmission fluid ?

Thanks

I'm trying out the theory of moving the seat forward. So far, I have done about 10 1 - 2 shifts @8000 rpm with zero grind. I'll give you guys an update later.
