Default Odd Smells

Alright, last night my buddy and I did a few pulls on an empty stretch of Highway. Everything was fine in my 05 through 3rd, but then shifting to 4th, the clutch delay valve came in and the revs shot up and hit the rev-limiter. It musta stayed there for a few seconds, cause I was still keeping up with my buddy in is 02, and didn't realized what was going on. I couldn't hear much over his car (tops were down). I pulled into my apartment complex and realized that something didn't smell normal. The car was running great, but the closer I got to the drivers side firewall of the engine bay, the more prominent the smell got. It wasn't the clutch, but was a smell that I've never smelled from a car before. Any Idea what it could be? I've searched and seen where it could be the cat, but my car only has 43k miles on it and didn't really think it would be out by now.

Could it be unburned fuel collecting in the cat and then burning off? The smell went away after I let the car idle for about 5 minutes, so it could be logical that that fuel was just burning off in the cat.

Anybody have a similar experience?

I think it's the unburnt fuel as well. Mine does this if the top is up and do a do a couple WOT runs...I can smell it a bit through the vents.
