OEM Airbox
Is it safe for a couple of days to leave the OEM intake cover off? I wanted to see the sound difference, but I heard of the intake heat soaking after awhile ... I'm putting it back on after maybe 1-2 days of driving, but I was just wondering if it will do any damage to the intake/engine if I do o__O
i doubt it will do any "Damage" to your car, but if u are a sit and go traffic situation then its bad because engine gets hot and intake is sucking hot air and hot air = bad, but member do it because it sounds better when u go vtec.
heat soak=power loss.
so pretty much, itll sound cool, but you'll be slower than usual
not a good trade off for me
what you can do to get a little more sound during crossover is to block the resonator passage way with a piece of plastic
i cut up a dvd case and taped off the resonator passage way with the piece of plastic and tape. the crossover was more prominent, but not as loud if you had a CAI.
btw, the resonator passage way is located behind where your air filter sits

Its fine to leave the lid off. You may experience more heat soak since hotter air will get to the intake, but if you're just driving around town, you don't need to worry about losing a few hp.
