Default OEM Exhaust/Test Pipe

Tried to search but couldn't find much on this topic...

With a Comptech intake already installed, what gains would I expect to see (if any) in replacing the OEM cat w/ a test pipe using the OEM exhaust? I'd drop in a VAFC and get the car tuned as well.

Thanks in advance

Paul

you would get negative 5 hp because you're a retard.

i think you should go get your car dynoed right now without any of the stuff. after that slap on the intake and test pipe, then see what you put down on the dyno with a little bit of tuning.
that way you see the actual increase you're getting.

The increase you get will be noise on the dyno. The VAFC will get you the gain since you are a MY01.

Save yourself the $2500 fine and remove your middle resonator. That will get the sound you are looking for... and maybe 1hp.

testpipes will get you some decent power. there have been dyno's where they show as much as 8-10hp in high rpms...before anyone calls BS, search for "+T1R +mustang +dyno" and maybe testpipe as well there is a guy who did this and showed great gains.

Although there is an inherent risk of being fined if you get caught...so, its up to you to decide if it is worth it. And no, your not killing more trees

I dyno'd IDENTICAL ( argh ) with just exhaust on my old AP1! And I got a free CEL (before I knew about the mechanical O2 sim)

If you are FI, only a test pipe would give you a significant amount. I think the 8-10 is with exhaust as well?

I put a test pipe on for the weight reduction. Easy 10 pounds...

interesting...was it back-to-back same dyno same day? I know that I'm getting more power just based on the butt dyno, maybe not 10 but the top-end flow is definitly liking less restriction. But then different cars will probably respond differently as well.

Of course not... that would have been too conclusive! Same dyno, different year. : )

Just get the test pipe and mash it... but don't forget the 02 simulator!
