Well, it turns out that smacking a possum in the head with the OEM front lip is not the kindest of actions to either the animal or the car. Poor thing.. the car, that is. Exiting a corner the other night at high speed, I come upon the aforementioned creature being its stupid self standing in the middle of the road. I am doing approx. 80, so no time to swerve... just pray. Two beady little eyes in the headlights, and then THUNK! If only I had one more inch of clearance (I am stock height, by the way), His little brain would still be firing electrons in his ugly head, and I wouldn't have a big crack in my lip.

Oh well, I was going to replace it anyway, had lots of scuffs from an apparently stupid, or careless, or both, previous owner.

 

better to pay for a new lip then to swerve into a tree. you didn the right thing by killing another useless animal =P

 

remember! for every small animal you kill with the car, you gain 1hp from the car gods

Sorry about the lip, but as others have said you did the right thing.

Thank God this wasn't a "I swerved to avoid hitting a cute, helpless little critter and ended up slamming head-on into a bus full of Jerry's Kids on their way to Disney World" thread.

Now you just need to put a little graphic of assorted critters like squirrels, opossums, rabbits, etc under your driver door with your first "/" mark for a kill beneath it!!!
Maybe you could find a pic of the critters all standing together from Bambi and use that!

good thing it was only a possum and not a deer or moose or bear! Those would hurt a little more!

 

Could've also been an "opossom on the half shell" (aka armadillo).
