Default are oem lsd's supposed to be noisey/clunking

i just bought a 00' with 19k miles on it. every time i pull out from a stop and take a turn onto the other road while accelerating i hear a very loud clunk, clunk, clunk coming from the rear diff. also i have driven over some ice slowly and when i heard the lsd kick in then there was the same exact clunking noise and it is not faint it's pretty loud. i searched some and couldn't find a exact answer. i only have 6/6000mi warr. so i'd like to figure this out soon. also i noticed when accelerating in vtec only it sounds like somebody is faintly ringing a bell under my hood almost like a tinging sound. and i only use shell 93 in my s2k. thanks for the help.

I have an 04 s with only 1500 miles and I had a moaning noise when turning or making a U-turn from a stop. It almost sounded like tires the tires were rubbing. I changed my diff fluid to LE-607 this weekend and the noise has disappeared. Not sure if this is the same noise your hearing but a diff fluid changed solved my noise

Clunking is a bad sound to hear from the diff. This may indicate diff failure. I would recommend getting it checked out ASAP.

well that sucks i just bought it. i seemed to be in perfect condition, best looking s2k i've seen on any lot. only 18.5k miles on it. i have babied this thing since i got it, still trying to get used to the rwd, coming from a integra. now i have to find a way to get it to the dealer and find another car to drive.

Hopefully the place you bought it from won't give you a hard time. The guys at my Honda dealership are tightasses about doing warranty work. I was having a similar issue and they kept telling me that they couldn't hear the noise. Hope you have better luck than me.

Sorry,my bad.Lets start over.!!!

So,my dear friend,in the presence of those kind of clunking noises, there is a strong possibility, that your diff is shot.!!!

Sorry,but I'm a man of a few words.!!!
