Thanks Luis. I am scanning the Bridgestone price list as we speak (it's bloody slow). Can anyone tell me how I then post this thing so you guys can read it?
It was an interesting investigation and it has convinced me to stick with the OEM tyres. I have now covered 20,000 km and am well overdue for replacements. My problem is that I am wearing out the edges of the tyres before the centre of the tread which probably indicates to most of you that I bought the Stook for going round corners not just fast in a straight line.
My experience of the handling of the Stook is that it understeers pretty massively in tight corners when cold but I find that once the tyres are hot I can get four wheel drifts going very easily. Which says that the car is balanced pretty well and the stock tyres are working quite effectively.
If I continue to get 20k (12,500 miles) from the Stock S02s then I am happy.

s2kturkey,
My original S02s lasted a bit less than yours but they wear evenly after re-aligning. I would check your alignments.
To post you need to host the picture somewhere (try www.photopoint.com if you do not your own pages), and include a pointer between IMG tags, like (IMG)(/IMG) using square instead of round brackets.

Skturkey,
Thank you for all the investigative work! You're a real mate! When it comes time for my replacement, I'll just find a Bridgestone dealer and present the numbers you suggested. Hopefully they will understand the importance of the difference among the 02s.
Thanks again!

As Luis said, alignment can be a real issue on the S2000. One Bridgestone engineer I spoke with said the S2K uses a huge amount of toe to make the rear end stick. I believe the figure was 6mm.
I plan on getting mine aligned before I track it this spring.

This is what I found in the old thread...
If it's true that the 89W/92W rating defines the tire to be a Honda OEM -- then gregstevens did indeed get the right tires from the Tirerack!!
Hey greg, are you sure the new tires were different from your original set? Have you compared tread patterns (or do you no longer have the old rears)??

On the STOCK OEM front tires:
E4 0213175 205 55 R16 89W K9904 ESOZJZ
How do these compare with the stock OEM REAR tires? And for those who have bought FRONT S02's from Tirerack, are these numbers here any different?

STL, the comments from Mikey are correct. I am still trying to figure out how to post this pricelist but reading it now it states.
Front
205/55R16 89W = Honda S2000
205/55ZR16 89 = Porsche Boxster (note the Z between the 55 and the R and no W after the 89)
Rear
225/50R16 92W = Honda S2000
225/50ZR16 92 = Porsche Boxster (note the Z between the 55 and the R and no W after the 92)
In the list Bridgestone states that the Z and W are speed ratings - the Z indicates 240km/h+ (150mph+) whilst the W indicates a 270km/h (170mph)rating.
I don't know about Greg - maybe he did have the right tyres and just got a bad batch - dunno??
