Qtip...

I suggest you delete this thread if you're seriously going to sue folks over your screwup.

Last thing you want is a public and written record that you were:
a - exceeding the speed limit, and
b - deliberately seeking out the wet handling limits of the car.

Of course, this thread had been read over 750 times to date, so it might be a tad bit late for that.

And by the way, if anyone out there decides they want to test the rollover rating of the car by spinning the car sideways into a low guard rail let me know. I'd love to get it on video and you could always use the video in your suit to demonstrate the wanton disregard for danger Honda had in selling a convertible sportscar without a full cage.

If any of you out there snowboard or ski you now know why lift tickets are so high ("no-one told me that riding the chair in high winds without the safety bar down while leaning over to adjust my boots after drinking three martinis at lunch was dangerous!").

Just a quick disagreement about the previous GEICO statements made by Silver S2K.

I have had GEICO for 10 years and made a number of claims - a few my fault and others someone elses and my rates have not increased and I have not been dropped. I find GEICO easy to work with and they offer great rates.

my 2 cents,

aran

I think they may have been the cause. Maybe the car was trying to scrape them off

Hey Qtip,

I live above the the Caldecott Tunnels in Oakland and have driven thru there many times. You were trying to warm up your engine quickly? Assuming that you live right off of 24, your engine should still have warmed up to 3 bars very quickly. Regardless, 6th gear provides less torque than 5th, and thus you would have been less prone to breaking traction. Also, when the car is on any sloped surface, it will have less traction. You were headed downhill.

I have experienced that "floating" feel at 70+ mph on that stretch. Although its an uneasy feel, by just lifting VERY GENTLY and being ultra-smooth I don't see how it can turn into a spin situation otherwise. Even with no traction in the rear, there must have been some force on the front tyres (either braking, turning, or both) that caused the car to start rotating.

I am not a particularly skilled driver, but the OEM S0'2s have been excellent in the rain for me (6000 miles so far).

Cheers,
Ed

QTip, from one lawyer to another. You have 0, none, nada, zilch, of a case for anything, under any circumstances, for absolutely no money. In fact, if you brought this case, you would likely lose the other side's attorney's fees and court costs, and if the other side is any good (and I am sure Honda's lawyers are very good) they will ask for (and the court will award) Rule 11 sanctions. You were warned (see the owner's manual) and you were negligent (see your own posts here). Be thankful, chalk it up to experience, and move on down the road (maybe a little slower in the rain this time).

First off.. let me say I'm sorry to hear about the accident and as others have said it's great that you were not physically harmed.

BUT

I agree.

Qtip: You probably broke traction when you downshifted and did not match revs. Time to trade it in for a Mercedes.

I own a restaurant and live in constant fear of people like you. Also have to pay exorbitant liability insurance rates.

wow, i know the exact stretch of freeway you're talking about. i live on the hill (oakland side), and on that downslope, it's easy to get to 90mph without even realizing how fast your going! (unless i'm in the Jeep, which doesnt like anything over 75mph)

glad your ok. keep us updated.
