It definitely wouldn't be worth getting a hardtop though because (In my opinion) there is no way you could get 19k for an 01 with 62k miles.
The look of a brand new softtop would help bring in potential buyers considerably but I still think it's a $12.5k-13k even with one installed. More like $11-12k as is.

It's a 2001 Silverstone Metallic with a clean title. Under 62,000 (3rd Owner since 2012 @ 43,000 miles). Weekend car only/Winter stored. 1 scuffed guardrail accident (cosmetic repair only).
Mixed bag here... mileage is good, CR aero is actually something I'd like to have. Billman-maintained is a plus. Lack of any top at all is going to limit you to someone looking for a weekend car. The mods look reasonable.

I paid $14k in November for a 75k-mile, bone stock 2003, with a soft top about 50% worn out, seats a bit squashed, bumpers 80% clean, otherwise very clean car with solid maintenance history. I might have paid a bit more for this car, with a working top. At your price, someone will have to specifically want the mods you have and not care about the top.

MY 2000 Silverstone with 41,000 miles.
Mostly stock with exception of:
-New Ohlin DFVs, K&N intake, Billman TCT, upgraded AP2 valve retainers/keepers, AP2V2 wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
-Bunch of maintenance such as brake pads, rotors, stainless lines, brake fluid, tranny/diff/cluth fluid, 4-wheel alignment.
-Compression test revealed a clean bill of health. Great numbers across the board.
-Original top is in great shape. Replaced the straps recently.
-All black interior is in great shape. Alpine headunit with new speakers all around. Viper paging alarm.
-Upgraded HID bulbs to authentic Philips CBIs.
-Will replace my aftermarket exhaust with the OEM piece.
-Non-rolled fenders, hacking of the exterior.
-Some rock chips on the nose from daily driving. Not dings/dents. Paint is nice.

I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of stuff, but this is the gist of it. The car is absolutely solid and doesn't need a thing. Open to hearing back your thoughts!

Lastly, would it be better to sell the car with the stock suspension as opposed to with the Ohlins?

Mike

Wow I didn't know your car had that low of miles! Bummer you might have to sell it. It's hard to find a low miles ap1. I think it's best to sell it stock as you open up your buyers because a lot of less knowledgable buyers are scared of mods. Even though all your mods are top notch quality parts. If you don't mind getting the most $$$ then sell it as is.
Good luck!

Hey s2ki,

I've been searching for a fun car for a while and have been all over the place with what I want. 996 turbo, e46 m3, 135i, etc... Recently I started looking at s2k's and have found one that really interests me. Drove it today and am leaning towards buying it. It was the first one I'd ever driven and I didn't get anywhere close to the best feel for it, but I don't think I'd hate it by any stretch of the imagination.

2005 NFR
Bone stock
8,100 miles(No, I didn't leave out any digits)
$24.5k

That seems pretty much in the ballpark if not a decent deal from what I've seen, am I right in coming to that conclusion? Thank you!

Nowhere near the ballpark according to Nadaguides, KBB and Edmunds. Overpriced by nearly $5k and that's even taking the low mileage in to the equation.

If it has all 10 VIN stickers and it's the one you really want I could see justifying paying an additional $1-2k above market but it's a $21-22k car max. $24-25k range will get a used 08-09 model. You have to take in to consideration that the 05 is a 12 year old car at this point.

As a counterpoint to what Honda606 said, it depends on the condition of the car and where you are in the country. If it's super clean, no paint or body damage, I could hear that price in a winter state. Seems like FL/TX/CA and friends are less inflated.

It's a desirable color, very low mileage, unmolested, and some say the 04-05 models are the "best" models. If everything with it checks out (maintained, original panels/vin #s, etc), that price is definitely close. I would personally say $22-23k, but could see it selling for $24.5 to the right buyer.

That right buyer is apparently me! I'll be picking the car up on Saturday. I do feel like $23k would have been a better price, but it pretty much ticks all the boxes for what I've been looking for. No dents, no dings, a few very minor rock chips that you can't avoid if you drive a car here, and that's about it. It's local, one owner, older guy, and it's 100% unmolested and I've also driven it.

Congrats! I'm sure you won't regret it. I would have made the purchase too. Can't pass up an opportunity like that, which does not come often.
