I'm new to this board and this is my first thread. I am really thinking about the CR. I had a AP1 that I loved but hated the plastic rear window and after the mice got into it - well I just gave it away (to my son though, so it's still in the family). I have been ready to jump into an '07 or '08 but the CR has just about everything I would do to a stock model. I hate the wing though so that would have to go. It looks like an easy thing to take it off (only four bolts hold it on) and it could be installed for track days when it would do it's job and I don't care what's behind me. The lack of a convertible top is the only thing that is holding me back as I live near the coast and it can quickly turn cold and foggy. I would like to know a couple of things from hardtop owners. How long does it take to remove and install a factory HT (and of course you need a friend to help right?). Can the spare tire kit be added?

You could always trade the CR trunk lid for one you like. I bet many on here would be more than willing. I recommend going and seeing the CR & it's wing in person before making a final decision. I wasn't a fan myself at first, but then I really liked it after I saw it in person. As for the spare tire, I was able to fit the one from my '05 in there by deflating the tire. Just make sure to keep a portable pump with you. I plan to do this when I travel to events. I can remove the hardtop pretty quickly by myself but most people should have another person to help. To me, it sounds like you should buy a regular S2000 and add to it the CR parts you do want. You can get them from hardtopguy or similar.

Also, from what I've been told when removing the hard to it is very simple, There should be 4 of the "latches" like the OEM softtop have, two at the front/top, and two on the bottom at the back that also unclip with the squeeze of the "trigger"

Yep. The hardest part about taking it off is having someone else help you.

Although one of the other S2000 guys is building me a hoist on wheels so I can finally take it off on a whim

Black CR with A/C and radio here.... a very nice ride.
Quite stable at speed.... what speed? I'll leave that to your imagination.
