My $0.2
I reckon most people including myself buy for that reason.

HP and power are, of course, a part of the equation that define the driving experience.

Would you want the S if it had a 140hp engine?

I think for you, the driving experience is heavily weighted on horsepower, I could be wrong but I just have a gut feeling

As for your question, I say no because I have come to love the S2000 for what it is and I will agree with you that horsepower is a part of the driving experience.

Just throw on an aftermarket supercharger on the CR if you feel it lacks power and be done with it.

Perhaps that's correct. It's disheartening nonetheless to see the other manufacturers moving forward while the S stagnates and moves backwards.

Even if there is still a diminishing performance win, it would be nice to see progress in concert with the rest of the market.
Well it still seems like the rest of the market was playing catch up and those models are close to being on par on the street. Track might be a little different. With the exception of the Boxster S and Z4 M the CR is still cheaper and would blow the other cars away on the track.

Let's not forget what S2Ks really sell for nowadays at or below invoice. When you look at that the HP difference doesn't mean much.

I have to ask though if your into HP why buy a Honda? It's not something they've ever been known for

Easy answer, my Prelude was 200HP (ok 195) when 160 was the standard for it's class in THAT IN 1995! ... when S2k's came 240HP was exactly above competition too, sorry non all Honda had low HP (even my V6 accord had 200HP 200Lb TQ in '98) .. so why the S2k was abandoned just like the NSX??
