decisions decisions......Well I just couldn't see myself without my S this summer...BUT you do have a point...If you can stand it I would try to wait for the 06...especially seeing what kind of deal you may get with it being that time of the year....Good luck with your decision.

Black8, I am in a similar situation and looking to once again own a S2K (previously had a MY02 - don't know why I ever sold it). Anyway made the decision to get another one this year. My plan is as TR-S2K described, I want to wait and see what the changes are for MY06. I figure if they are minor and it doesn't matter (between MY05 and MY06) I might be able to pick up an MY05 at a good price (i.e. "last years model"). If the MY06 has features that I want, then I'll wait until Nov/Dec, although I can barely control myself when I see a S2K right now - weather here in NC is perfect top down right now (sunny and in the 70s during the day). Gonna be a long 4-5 months but I think worth it in the end.

I was just suggesting that this years driving season is still ahead of you. Sure, you could wait till fall and get a 06, assuming of course there is no increase in price for your new restyled 06. And depending where you are you may want to wait till next spring for nicer weather to drive your new car, in that case you might as well wait for the 07 model.
Exactly. There is a certain fallacy in expending large amounts of effort to try to reduce depreciation in a car that you are purchasing only for pleasure.

If you're gonna buy a car for financial reasons, you would buy a $2k Civic, drive it until it dies, and then buy another $2k Civic.

Sure summer is coming. But I live in South Florida. It summer here all year round. In the dead in winter the lowest is 40 degree here. So I don't have to wait until 2006 or 2007 like you said. But only at the most 5 months from now.

Why the hell is a person in a right mind would buy a car that is consider 7 months old when they can just wait a few more months and get a brand new model. If you think it good idea to buy an 05 then goes ahead and in a few months you gonna wish you waited because the 05 already lose it value by $1K- $2K.
In October if someone goes to Honda to buy an S2000 . Do you think they will buy an 05 or an 06 for almost the same or maybe a few hundred more for the 06 ? 06 of course. This has nothing to do with "reduce depreciation" it has alot to do with common sense.

You apparently have never purchased a new car before. Let me fill you in on something...there is this thing called depreciation. Everyone that purchases a new car gets it thrown in for free with their purchase by the dealership to make them feel special.

So guess what? The moment you drive your "new" 06 off the lot the mintue you try to sell it it will be worth $26-27k as well.

You don't save anything by buying a new car regardless of when you buy it. Have a great day.

You got a point... BUT... I don't planing on selling my car untill at least 5 years from now. So what car do you think will have a better resale value 05 or 06 ? That what I thought. Who ever sell their NEW car whitin 2 years is deserved to be taking to the cleaner. Thanks for the "depreciation" information but I already know that.
