I am just getting ready to change mine at 4400 miles. My engine only has 30K on it, and the oil did not start to change color until 4K and I have not lost any volume wise either.

follow the maintenance minder you'll be alright. Mine usually makes me change around 4300 miles. Just so you guys know:

15% - Warning oil change needed soon
10% - Oil change needed
5% - Do not drive until oil changed
0%- DO NOT DRIVE!

Armen I notice you have an 06. When did your maintenance minder read 15% for your first oil change?

At 4K, my car is still at 40%.

Appreciate the help

"dirty" oil doesnt mean its not doing its function wich is providing lubrication to the engine. color of oil doesnt mean anything. search UOA or talk in under the hood. this has been discussed many times.

I do not claim to be an oil savvy guy, but i have read and re read this much.

i have about 750 miles on my car (got it in April). i know the manual says that i need to leave the oil in for 5,000 miles (which has a special formula that helps engine last longer), but my S2K is not a daily driver and it sits for about 4-5 days and gets driven only on weekends/nice weather days.

so should i change my oil sooner? like at about 3,000 miles? as a weekend car and at this rate, my car wont probably see 5000 miles till sometime next year. and i dont want dirty oil to be sitting in my engine that long. plus what about all those factory "metal pieces" i keep hearing about that should get flushed out after 1,000 miles or so?

any help would be appreciated~!

You mean to tell me we are supposed to change the oil? My car has 76,532 miles on it. Should I do the fist oil change now?

Just kidding

I change every 3,000 miles. People will always argue, go longer, or go less, but I say do what makes you comfortable. Hey, its cheap insurance for your motor!!!!

on all my other cars, 1000 miles, i change out the oil, and put fresh oil.

but the s2000 comes with different break in oil from honda (according to manual) so i am following their recommendation.

thus i didn't change it 1000 miles. i will change it at 15% reminder, which in my case 6500 miles or so.

so im guessing this break-in oil is ok to be in there for several months then?

what if i change my oil at about 3,000 miles... would the break-in oil be lubricated the cylinder walls and parts by then?

dont mean to jack the thread but just curious since its the same topic~

thx
