I'm coming up on my 1st oil change, the lady owner before me had hers always done at honda and I think she said it cost her almost $50.00 each time. Well I use to have a 300zxTT and I went to firestone for oil changes and they did a good job for around $25.00. I also have the extended warranty which is still being mailed out to me since I bought the car about 1 week and a half ago. She paid the $50.0 transfer fee so hopefully its on its way. BTW my s2k is using Castrol 10w30 non synthetic.

But to not void the warranty would I always have to go to a honda dealer for oil changes? Also when my 30k maintanence is coming up, does it have to be done at a honda dealer? Theres this local mechanic who has been working on Hondas and is pretty trusted. But again I'm not sure if I'll do it if its voids the warranty. Also my car has almost 29k miles on her, the oil change will be done around 29k. Does the same oil get changed at 30k also? Thanks for the help!

As long as you have documentation (receipts), I don't see how having the oil changed or having any other basic maintenance (radiator flush, tranny/diff/clutch/brake fluid change) performed by an independent shop would void your warranty. Just to be sure, I would check with a service advisor or better yet the service manager or whoever handles warranty claims at your local Honda dealer. And yes, if you have your oil changed at 29k miles, you won't need to do it at 30k.
