I used 1/2 quart in my first 3750 miles, then got an oil change and diff fluid change.

I'm at 7300 right now, doing my second oil change this week, no usage at all.

I VTEC every day.

The dealer also mentioned the "special honda break in oil" to me, but they said to change it out at 4500miles. I switched to Mobil 1 5w30 after that and haven't noticed a bit of consumption even after a weekend at the dragon.

I vtec after every meal and before bed. Gone 1000 miles and oil is down maybe 1/4" on the stick. So it is burning a bit so far, but nothing major.

So there actually is a break-in oil and it has been discussed quite heavily in the RR oil journals.

I'm also one who has experienced no oil burning.

My dealer, even knowing that I do my own oil changes, said that, unless the car is driven as a weekend driver by a grandmother who drives gently, you should follow the severe schedule. Several guys there said that changing out the break-in oil is correct at 3750. They also said, several times, that one should not change to synthetic oils until 10,000 miles, since some break-in continues for 10,000 miles, and synthetic oils apparently don't allow that remaining break-in to take place. I'm following that advice; I changed at 4000 and 7800 miles, and will start using synthetic at about 10,000 miles.

No detectable oil use yet.

I just changed mine yesterday and i have about 6500 miles. I bought Castrol syn 10-30 at costco for around 20 bucks. My friend who helped me bought Mobil 1 syn. It's sooooo clear you can't even tell you have oil.

Until i changed it, i never had any problems oil oil consumptions.

i have that same problem with the regular mobil. right after an oil change it's hard to read the stick til it browns out in a couple hundred miles.
