Oil consumption for 04s
I have almost 18,000 miles on my MY04. For the first 10k miles or so I checked my oil every other fuel-up, and didn't see any noticeable change in oil volume. So I stopped bothering to check.
Unlike most here, I follow the normal maintenance schedule.

Correction:
They do use a special factory fill oil and it should be left in the engine at least 5000 miles.
My 04 has about 11k and has used less than .2 qts. Much better on the oil consumption issue than in earlier years.

Damn!!!
BTW I would still keep checking, you never know when you might catch a slow leak/bad drain plug. Takes 30s at fill up to check so I consider it a good insurance policy.
11.5 K here with zero oil usage so far. First change was at 3300 miles to synthetic. I've been changing it every 4K since with MAXlife 10-30 synthetic. Good stuff! I will do a UOA on next change at 15K.

They do not use a special breakin oil in any new Honda.
Also, just my .02 but I would not allow any of my vehicles, whether new or older, to get 7,500 miles on it between oil changes. Changing the oil often is the cheapest preventative maintenance you can ever do. That and checking your tire pressure regularily.
