Oil consumption decline, engine break-in
I've got about 6000 miles on my 2002 now. I took a look back at my oil additions, and I see a consistent decline in oil consumption over time.
Started at 0.5 qt per 1000 miles, then went down to 0.4, 0.3, 0.2, and now 0.1 quarts per 1000 miles.
I tried graphing oil consumption versus miles, and it was basically a straight line. I expect by 7500 miles my oil consumption will bottom out and be insignificant, marking the end of the engine break-in. About the same time I will be going to synthetic oil.
Just information I promised I would provide a few months ago...

I'm still consuming oil after 63k miles. I put in about 1 quart per 3k miles.
At 40k miles, I had a compression/leakdown test(for another problem) and everything was within spec. I've also dynoed at 60k miles and pulled a 203hp/137ft-lb torque(w/ HKS Exhaust). My motor isn't the best, but it's not bad for being pushed hard it's entire life.
I believe that oil consumption is directly related to the amount of VTEC'ing that the engine is subjected to. So therefore, I can only say that those of you who don't burn oil also don't VTEC.
Rebuttle?

I've noticed my oil consumption going down over time. I've also noticed my mileage (mpg) go up. Is there a relationship?
Is it likely that my oil consumption will approach 0 and my mpg be at its highest when the engine is broken in?
