In the owner's manual there is a maintenance schedule table that says not to change the oil until 7500 miles, but it says to change the oil filter at 1500 miles. I've read on this board that many members changed their oil filter when they first changed their oil. So should I change my oil filter at 1500 miles? and should I use a K&N, Mobil 1, or Honda filter?

"SOMEBODY! SOMEBODY! SOMEBODY HELP ME!"

hehe...that's from the movie Ghost...

ummm...I'm pretty sure it says 1500 miles. On the table it says x100 miles, and for the oil filter change it says 15 miles. So I'm at 1250 miles so I really need to know if I should change my filter then, don't wanna mess up my maintenance schedule, ya know?

I dont see how changing the filter can be bad.. it can be done from the top without spilling much oil at all. Just be sure to top off the oil level afterwards.

Table on page 148 shows 15 X 1000 for filter change under normal conditions. Under severe conditions it's 3,750 or 6 months (p.150)

My manula says 15,000 miles for the filter (Table says 1,000 miles, not 100). In any case, I would just follow the Service Extreme Conditions which indicates the filter should be replaced every 6 months or 3,750 miles along with the oil. Normal Service indicates to replace the oil every 7,500 miles and the filter every 15,000 miles, but I would highly recommend changing the filter along with the oil, so the real question is, do you want to changw the oil and filter at every 3,750 miles or 7,500 miles (in either case, the 6-month rule should apply).
