is it normal for an s2k to use a quart to quart and a half of oil between oil changes (3,000 miles)?

 

not sure on the exact amount but the AP1's do tend to gobble up oil.

 

There a lots of threads on this forum from owners that report oil usage in the range you describe or more. The reports are that AP1s are prone to use oil more than AP2s. Your owners manual advises to check the oil level at each fuel fill up. My 2002 uses aboul 1/2 qrt in 3,000 miles but I don't drive it hard. I hit vtec only once in a while. Driving hard tends to drive the oil consumption higher in my case.

 

More VTEC = More Oil Usage

 

My AP2 has gone almost 3,000 miles on its first synthetic oil change and it hasn't used a drop of oil (and it still looks like new oil). And I will admit that I get on it every once in a while (VTEC at least once a day).

 

My AP1 rarely burns a drop. I Vtec like it's going out of style. I think that maybe it has something to do with whether or not the car was broken in a certain way. Of course I have no proof of this, but I just think there has to be a reason...

If you are burning too much, try a set of krank vents. I have read good things about them solving oil consumption problems.

 

hmm...so it sounds like it's kinda normal for this to happen then. i was just wondering because i thought that using that much oil was bad...

 

mine uses 1 quart,every 1000 miles,and it's normal.

 

I have a 2004 and it has yet to use a drop.

 

my car uses about 1/2 a quart every 3000 miles... its a 00 with 52k miles
