Which oil to use on USED car

I still have 15 qts of Mobil 1 10w30 Synthetic from my 2001 prelude. Can i use Mobil 1 synthetic even though i dont know what's in it????

lol dude, read the oil journals link i posted above. this EXACT QUESTION is answered in there. it's the one that says "can i mix synthetic oils"

That still doesnt answer my question. I dont know what kind of oil was used in the S. When i do my oil change, which should i use.

It does not matter which oil was used in your S. Since yours is more than 10k miles, you can use either synthetic or dino oil for the next oil change, as log as it is 10W30.

Use the Mobil1 10w30. It is great stuff, well reviewed and tested.......and you already have it!

Don't sweat the old oil. Just commit to the new oil and move on, whatever one you choose.

p.s. I've been using M1 for 45k+ miles now (94k+ total) and my "used oil analysis" from Blackstone labs tells me that my motor is in excellent health!

It doesn't matter what kind was in your car, as you can change to/from synthetic as often as you want. It doesn't hurt anything.

And I highly suggest Valvoline Maxlife. That oil is incredible (and superior to mobil 1 for higher mileage engine).
