perfect answer, less cash, but since you are considering a bmw, then you must be able to afford the maintenance...

from stockae92
let's get real.
if you only own 1 car , then you've got to go for the BMW 330i. it's practical. got more *useable* space.
if you are single and own only 1 car, you WILL need the backseat of the BMW 330i
if this is your 2nd car, regardless of marrital status, go for the S2000!

Maintenance is not that high on a BMW considering the service intervals are much more spread out. . .

I was contemplating for a while about whether I should take practicality or just sheer impulsiveness when considering a new car. This will be my daily driver, but I also have the option of driving another car that is to my access at home as well. But back to the point, I acted upon my hedonist nature when I made my final decision. I disregarded all other aspects and just set my mind on what I truly wanted, which was the S2000. Though I don't have it yet, I will be getting one soon enough. I just don't care about driving other people around, or a large trunk. I just want to see myself in my roadster, top down, feeling the wind on my face, and just cruise around, without any worries. It's just me and the car. Maybe there's a girl in the passenger here and there, but they'll be more useful to me at home. Anyway, just look deep down inside of yourself and try and feel what really gets you pumping. What car would you rather see the valet guy return with?

I'll choose the S2000 as well ... Unless you're comparing with an M3 and nothing less, then it's a different story.

Yes S2k has better performance... but the 330ci is really not
much slower... 330ci is dyno to have about 198hp & 201tq
on mustang dyno (which usually shows a lower number)
http://www.activeautowerke.com/dyno/01%203...20AA%20Chip.asp
It should probably do acceleration at almost E36 M3 level given
the same short gearing (and it is almost 200lb heavier than
E36 M3)
As for handling.. 330 will need some upgrade to come close to
the S2000 (though S2000 will still be better)...

Finally.. I agree with others.. they are very different cars for very
different purpose.. buy what you want.

given both cars are stock, the S2 should do better at the track in terms of lap times.

I had to make the same decision when I was car shopping, I posted up about it too, just like you. Look at what car I got?? S2000 catches much much more attention than a beamer, but the beamer is much more practical and comfortable for daily drive. I test drove both and I liked both a lot, S2000 gave me more of a rush. My suggestion is, if you can afford spending 40 on a 330 with Navi and sport package, I say go with the 330, I would have.
