Default OK I have disgraced us all - please SHOOT me. My first timed 1/4 mile (long)

OK everyone - somebody please shoot me!

AArrrggggghhhhh!! I feel HORRIBLE

I went up to Palmdale (LACR) last night all high and mighty and energetic. Went up to get a couple of 1/4 mile timeslips. And there I was thinking to myself, yeah I talked to Sev, he told me how to do it, just rev the engine and your off b a b y !!!! So I line up behind the track waiting for my turn, and all these guys (mostly kids) in their integras, civics, accords, preludes ..........start oogling my car and asking me what she'll run. Well ofcourse I tell them, "You know this car is not built for drag racing, but it is still pretty quick - I think I'll manage to get mid to low 14's out of her. But I DO KNOW of someone who got a 13.855 out of his bone stock!!" So everybody is like "Awesome and coool......."

So I have NEVER drag raced my car before. So when my turn comes I line up and see the tree and it WASN'T at all what I was expecting. Just a little grouping of lights. So all of a sudden the lights start changing and I see green and I am like WHOAH shit - and I had been holding the revs at 7k, so I drop the clutch and my tires start spinning. Infact my back end starts swinging a bit from side to side. So after an eternity of not moving, I finally take off, I redline every gear and by the time I end the 1/4 I know I have royally screwed up.

Here are the results:

Reaction: 1.179

I1: 2.456
I2: 6.639
I3: 10.064
I4: 12.945

E.T: 15.526

MPH: 89.965

Apparently the track is 2600 ft above sea level. I dont know if that would make a significant difference. Temperature was 85F Tire psi was probably around 38psi cold.

I would really appreciate it if someone could analyze these times and tell me where and at what parts they think I did most of my screwing up.

Why is my MPH so low?? Even if I started out late, shouldnt the car have picked up speed after running 1/4 mile. Shouldnt the 1/4 mile be closer to 100 mph??

Should I get me car dyno'd just incase Honda put a motor with 180hp instead of 240hp?

No seriously is a dyno to check engine hp justified (how much quality control do they have for engine hp output???) or is this just a case of a completely sucky driver.

Thanks guys - I hope you will still accept me amongst your midst even though I have disgraced you all - I am not worthy of sharing the same board with the great Sev and his 13.855

Your reaction time is... poor. Why didn't you try and run again?

Practice, man.

I did not think reaction time factroed in at most tracks. They have an IR sensor that starts the clock when you cross the start line, Right?

So I just checked the temp. pressure, and humidity for when I ran. I entered into this online ET/MPH correction website http://gafba.com/calculators/et1.asp

It came up with an altitude corrected figure of 15.00/93.24 and altitude+density corrected figures of 14.535/96.15

Should this make me feel better?? And also, do I need to get a dyno done??

THanks

You can't base anything on one run. It takes practice drag, autocross, or track a car. You don't just jump out there and do everything correctly the first time. Why did you only do one run?

I think you should try launching a little lower next time. It seem like you're spinning all the way throught 1st gear. your 60' time is not great. Try it at 6.5K rpm and see how it will hold.
