Ok to use rubbing compound?
I just installed my ricks s badges and the rear badge looks perfect, but i noticed on the front bumper that there was an outline of where the Honda "H" used to be, i thought it was adhesive left over, but on closer inspection it looks like an outline of paint, probably from when the bumper was sprayed for rock chips. I spoke to someone about what to do and was advised to use rubbing compound to take off the paint around the emblem and smooth it out to help blend it in with the rest of the paint, is this correct? Also, will i have to reapply a clear coat or some kind of polishing compound to the treated area so that it shines like the rest of the bumper?
A fine cut rubbing compound will be fine. You can try things like 3M Swirl Remover and Meguiar's Scratch-X first since they are a very fine rubbing compound. If you need more power then just keep stepping it up in courseness. After you're done, rewax the area.
