About a month ago, a lady had a seizure and almost killed me! Luckily, I escaped major injury. My car? It didn’t. I had just painted it. Well l guess luck was on my side again as I was introduced to my “new” ‘03 with 33,500 miles!!! I bought it without looking at it and drove it home. The insurance gave me $25,5 for my ‘02 w/116K miles and I got the ‘03 with a brand new top, batteries and almost new Michelin’s for $26K!!! My ‘02 with new paint. I walked away. ‘03 33,500 miles. Absolutely immaculate.
I too am curious about the insurance question. I assumed we were in the period now where you'd likely never be able to replace the car with what insurance would payout given the current market unless you had some sort of extra add-on coverage.
BTW glad you made it out of that accident alright and congrats to finding yourself a good replacement. The red interior is an upgrade in my eyes!
I didn’t have to negotiate at all. They only gave me a $753.00 bump up because of the new paint, but that was it. I have Costco insurance. American Family/Connect. I save over 50% from State Farm.
American Family Insurance from Costco. They use “sales” price on special cars because KBB and NADA don’t fully represent the value. They said it keeps them from arguing and out of court. They used 12 sales of recent cars of the same make/model and then showed them to me.

You made me go and get a quote and compare it to USAA. I was shocked when the claims report came in. (I have had one claim (ice falling on a hood last year-no claims for 20 years) There was about 10! It turns out each "claim" was for a windshield rock repair paid for by USAA! (I have 5 vehicles)
Anyway, it was less than a $100 difference but with USAA it included 20% over book to help get a new/replacement car.
