am i crazy ?
it just seems weird to me that so many 01s, and 02s are going for so much (in many cases 25K+ with low mileage) when a new 03 can be had for a little over 29. Why wouldnt one just pay the extra 3 grand which if financed over 3 or 4 years doesnt really come out to that much ? You ll get a new car, peace of mind of proper break in, and that new car smell
Not to mention that the '03 will also depreciate 3 grand when you drive it off the lot, so now you're actually out 6 grand.
But yeah, it depends how badly you want a brand new car. For me, My '01 was $10,000 ($6200 US) than a brand new S2000... so it was worth it.

It also depends on what kind of payment plan you are looking at. For example, if you are leasing, getting a '03 will be cheaper for you in the long run, because the residual value of '03 is greater than a '02. For puchase, some banks, not all (speaking out of personal experience) give better APR to new cars, compared to used ones.
I got my MY00 for $28,000 last Jan when the prices were still higher. But my car came loaded with everything and the loaded 02's were still being sold for over $34,000. So I saved $6000 off of a new car which saved me about $140 a month in payments. The glass window is nice, but not $6000 nice.
It also depends on where you buy your S2000. The sticker on my 2001 S2000 was $39,000. Today the 2003s still have the same sticker price. There is no way you can get one for under $33,000 new here. BTW here is Hawaii.
Update: I stand corrected. My friend just picked one up for $32,400 cash. Granted its paid off but that was about $1000 cheaper than mine.
