Default One more oil change question

My Suzuka (6 monts old, with 1400 miles only of easy driving) needs an oil change; anyone have any dealer service dept. recommendations for central NJ?

It's a little early to be doing an oil change. The book says to wait till almost 4000 miles but it is your car (I've seen your post in the other thread). You might be better to learn to do the oil changes yourself. Have you not seen the horror stories on this board from those who have taken their cars to dealers? Oil caps that fall off, short on oil fill, leaking oil filters from them not removing the old filter seal, tools being left in the engine bay and having the hood slammed down on them, dented oil filters, messy oil spills all over the place, scratched and dented fenders. Only I do my car's oil changes (and most everything else for that matter).

I have heard about people having a hard time with honda over warranty issues when you change your own oil. Is there anything special you should do when you change your own oil to prove that you did it at the right milage and everything?

All ya gotta do is pop the hood before you leave the dealer and check the oil cap, filter and stick to make sure everything is tight and looks O.K....really no biggie.

I keep a log of dates, mileage and everything I do at that interval. I also keep all my receipts. They're dated. It also gives me the personal satisfaction of knowing more about what makes my car tick.

XVIPER: I actually plan on doing my own oil changes precisely because of the reasons you listed.
What I'm not sure about is when to do the first change.

This very topic is being heavily debated (argued?) in another thread. I say, when in doubt, follow the schedule (for severe use) in the owners manual, which, for you guys in miles, would be 3750.
