Default Opera Performance S2000

There was an article that I found in one of the tuner mags at Barnes and Noble, forget the mag, but it had the Opera Performance S2000 in it. This is the car that many will be familiar with from GT4 should anyone play the game. The fabrication involved to reduce it's weight is worthy to mention.

Anyways on to what I remember from the article, the article was about the real life Opera Performance S2000 that the developers of GT4 got their inpiration for including in the game. The owner/fabricator did a lot of work on the frame of the car, drilling out holes making the frame look like a bee hive to reduce weight if you will. Other techniques were held secret, but the end result was a very light weight s2000.

As good as GT4 is, or for what ever indication you take from how well it simulates the cars it includes in the game, this lighter weight S2000 is very fast against a grid of cars that is way more powerful in the game.

Has anyone else seen this car, read about it, or know anymore facts on it?

I started a thread on this a couple weeks ago; no one felt compelled to reply... I think the car is amazing; only pictures do it justice.. (re: framework)

you are correct

Yes, pretty cool but very expensive they just shaved off all the fat from the car and braced it to actually mkae it stiffere and lighter. The hp is about the same, just some bolt on's.

Yahoo searching is hard as the keyword "Opera Performance" brings back matches for Opera and for mainly GT4.

I agree, the car is amazing in game and in real life. In the article, seeing the work, the welds, the drilled holes that made this car light, I wish there were more information out there on it since I didn't buy the magazine. But as I read through it, it was very top secret on what the fabricator was willing to share, pictures were nice! but hard to find anywhere on the internet. We should be able to find at least a picture right?... someone?

along with weight reduction they reinforce thr rear subframe and front upper suspension mounting points by triangulating the mounting points. they also weld in a piece that acts like a inner fender brace. they spot weld the whole car up and do all kinds of body stiffening. but thats all i can remeber. correct me if im wrong but i think they dont like using roll cages.

I'll try and remember to scan it and post it when I get home. Showed a lot of fabrication detail. and the 2300 number sounds high, I want to say it was in the high 2100's but I could be wrong, like 2187 or something like that.

Stiffening was their main mod.

The pics in the magazine were too small to really tell anything. I'd like to see some bigger versions.
