Default Opinions on upgraded AP1 valve retainers affecting value

Hey all,

I think this is the right forum for this, what are the opinions (if any) on whether or not an AP1 having F22C upgraded valve retainers would effect its value for resale? Ive got a low mileage AP1 that I plan on keeping stock but I have the opportunity soon to replace the retainers if I want and I'm interested to see what the thoughts are on how it would affect the cars value if I go to sell it. Im not even sure how big of an issue it really is. Its prevalent on the forums but I figured thats mainly because we're enthusiasts and drive our cars more than average.

They will not decrease the car's value (just keep the AP1 retainers in a bag if a complete purist wants to put the car back to OEM condition).

Doubt if there's any measurable increase in value either. And there's always the question on how you damaged the OEM retainers -- how high did you over-rev the engine? Engine modifications are always suspect at a sale.

It wouldn't increase value, but it could help make the sale. If I was looking, and po seemed to be meticulous about maintenance, and did other preventative 'updates', I would find that to be a good thing, and would give me piece of mind.

If on the other hand owner seemed more ricer, tuner type, I would be thinking they beat on the car, found cracked retainers, and that is why they were replaced. So in this case it would give the opposite effect on sale.

So it all comes down to vibe from seller. Total prejudices come into play, age, clothes, how he speaks. Plus the appearance of car and appearance of maintenance records.
