Default Is the optional Honda Alarm kit worth while?

Who has the factory alarm add on and is worth the money?
Or is it overly complicated to install and overpriced?

Go with a aftermarket alarm system with proximity sensors.

kinda crappy. it's just hooked up directly to the horn, so it honks when set off. i got it just cuz it was like an extra 50 cent per month and it locks/unlocks the doors.

bottom line:
get aftermarket

Any alarm is useless - no one pays attention to them anymore - the only real useful part is if it cuts off power to the fuel pump when armed so your car can't be driven away without disarming it...

Car alarms give you some piece of mind. They're not perfect, but if you have one with proximity sensors, a battery backup and a beeper, it'll keep most would-be thieves and vandals from messing with your ride. I also get a discount on my insurance rates with an alarm.

You may want to pm WLaurent, or do a search on the Hornet alarm kit he put together for the S2000. It's not as easy to install as the Honda alarm, but the instructions are specific for the S2000, and it comes with some nice features. Besides, the alarm uses your original key fob.

that's not entirely true, esp. if you get an alarm that has a pager that notifies you when the alarm is going off.
