Is the optional Honda Alarm kit worth while?

You can add a generic two zone proximity sensor ($50) to the oem alarm easily. Wire the near sensor to the hood switch input: when it's grounded, the alarm sounds. Wire the far sensor to close a reed relay (Radio Shack part) and use the relay switch to power some kind of audible alert device. Tuck the sensor under the console armrest. I have some info here on how I did it.

DO NOT BUY THE HONDA ALARM. 2 simple reasons

reason 1: it costs more than an aftermarket that does more

That is a horrible story on your posted thread .
I guess it time to get real serous about who has the best aftermarket alarm around.
