Default Ordering my new s2000 today

Hey all,
Just want to drop a line saying that I made the worst mistake of my life, selling my 2003 to get a truck because it was more of a practical daily driver....and now I am going through bad s2000 withdrawls, so I finally gathered enough money up to get an 04.
I have never ordered one, I just managed to find the one I wanted at a dealership below msrp and decided to get it back in 2003. I am now going through the ordering process. I have no idea how long it is gonna take to come in either. I am wondering if anyone else out there has ordered theirs and wanted to know of some advice as to what to look for when I pick it up....scratches from the porter, dents, abuse, etc....
Well any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Jeremy

I work at a Honda dealership and I was told that it could take several months to receive an S2000 from an order. Sometimes dealerships can DX one you are interested in but most of the time it can take several months.

Ordered mine in late Dec. Built early Feb, probably in transit now. I'll probably see it mid-march. But that may be due to me requesting that it be ready in march and not earlier.

I was going to order mine, but then like magic a white one had just left Japan 4 days earlier.
They got the VIN and put it in my name.
It took 2.3 weeks to travel from Japan to Oregon.
I was told to prepare for a 2-3 month wait if I had ordered one.
The wait is well worth it.
2 weeks seemened like forever.

I waited a month to have mine delivered from Joliet, Illinois to Florida. Got a much better deal than any local dealer would have given me. Snow up north + sun in the south = car transport companies profit. Honda of Joliet was a pleasure to deal with, and my transport company came through. I've got the car now and LOVE IT. The '04 is a bit more refined than the 03. But not a hair slower, just smoother.

Why not order through Rick's or Hardtopguy? Both are selling new 04's for $30,995 and you can have it shipped to you. Sounds like the best deal to me! If I could afford an 04', I'd go that route!

My local dealer can't do better than high $32K. I could order from the above and have it shipped to my door for less than that!

When ordering a car there are diferent ways to getting the car. A dealer might try to "swap" the car to get it to you faster but in the case of the s2000 most of us wouldn't want the dealer to drive our car, so if you order one from a specific dealer they already have them on order you just have to find out when the build date is and it usually takes 4-6 weeks after that. The best thing you can do is shop all honda dealers near you to see if they have the color you want in stock.

I used the internet and, like mama told me, shopped around. It took awhile but I saved buckets of money especially when I was able to omit the Florida convertable sunshine tax.

SWEET!

At first, it sounded like you ordered somewhere else! That's awesome!

Good choice.
