Default out with the S

while the S2000 isn't gone yet, it will most likely be sold soon.
2006 Civic Si with navi and Pilot Exalto summer tires just purchased.
I'm gonna miss the close-knit and enthusiastic S2000 community. for anyone looking to (regrettably) move on from the S2000 for whatever reason, I'd say the new Si is a good choice. many will disagree, but i believe it delivers comparable acceleration and handling and adds a sweet sound system/navi, a surprisingly comfortable backseat and very spacious cargo area. of course the Si is still a Civic and will never have the status of an S2000 but I like it alot. acceleration is also strong throughout the entire rpm range in all gears, whereas in the S2000 you had to wait until 6,000rpm to get the real power. be that as it may, i still liked that about the S2000 because it required you to really know the car and know how to shift well whenever you needed power quickly. it made you feel like a true driver. i'll miss it, but i'm pretty sure i'll come to like the Si almost as much.

The new Civic SI is nice but I wouldn't give up my S2000 for it. Ideally I'd like to own both. Have fun with the new car.

You have to wait for the power to come on in the Si as well. It might not feel like it, though, because VTEC doesn't kick in as hard.

front wheel vs. rear for a true performance stand point no thanks, but then again the new si is pretty nice.

Congrats on your new car and good luck with it , but I wouldn't compare the two.

Comparable acceleration, I have no idea where you are getting that idea...

The new civic si will run a 6.8 0-60 and a 15.2 1/4 mile... both at least a second slower than a stock s2000 of any year.

I went to the Honda Dealer to look at one w/ all the options except Navi...(lip kit, wheels, exhuast , springs, ect) they want 29,700 for it and the price could be brought down I told the guy for another 3 or 4 G's i can leave w/ a NEW S2000 30k for a Civic just doesn't make sense to me but its a cool looking car.. I'd get a cheaper and fast RSX type S tho before i get a new Si...the mark up's are unbelieveable

i wasn't trying to justify the replacement or really side by side compare the two, just giving some driving impressions which in themselves might not be 100% accurate. i'm not bashing the S2000 or anything, because I love the car (and i have one) and really regret having to part with it.
