Ownere Handbook
Took delivery of my S2000 yesterday
The car has only 1000 miles on it, in theory it is second hand. When looking over the car I mentioned to the sales person that there was not a hand book. His reply was that second hand cars do not come with one and he could get me one for $20
I do not remember getting any a car without a handbook, it is like buying something without the instruction manual.
Has anyone else had this? Should the car have one? Is the sales person trying it on?
Seeing I do not have the hand book could someone tell me what the ON switch is for in the drivers door by the window buttons?

My guess is that you have not owned a Honda vehicle before. Am I right? That button basically stops you and the passenger from open/close the passenger side window. I guess this is more important in a 4 doors/windows vehicle when you have kids in the back. This is true on my other Hondas. The thing is when you leave it at the off position, you, the driver, cannot open/close the the passenger window either unless you turn it back on. This may not be true in other makes.
awatts you need to get an owners manual, it you have to pay the dealer $20 for it, then do it. Also check in the secret compartment for it first, wait without a manual you may not know about the secret compartment: As you're sitting in the drivers seat, there will be a fold-down door by your right arm. Open that door, then reach your hand into the top of that compartment and pop open the top door. That's often where the manual gets stashed.
Part of the problem is that when Honda salespeople sell a new car, they put all kinds of personal information in the front cover for the original buyer (I asked that they don't do this when I bought my S2000)
Then when they resell the car, they probably throw away the old manual so that the next buyer doesn't see the original owner's address.
If you buy a used Honda, and they don't give you an owner's manual, then they are negligent in my book. Without the instructions how to operate the vehicle safely, a responsible sale is not complete.
And it's probably their own fault that the manual is missing.
In my ideal world, the law should say that the owner's manual is required with a sale. Then the dealer accepting the trade will require the previous owner to provide the manual or take a reduction in trade-in value to cover the manual replacement.

I thought an owner's manual was kind of "property of the car" and that it stays with the car, not an owner. I would suggest checking in the secret compartment- If someone only had the car for 1000miles, chances are they didnt care enough about the car to find the manual.
I also think it should be the "property of the car". I have looked in the secret compartment, under the seats but nothing to be found. I am going to call another couple of Honda garages and see if they supply hand books with their second hand cars before I go back to the garage I purchased the car from.
Thanks for all your feed back.
