Default Is this the paint or clearcoat?

Anybody ever notice any wavy areas on their car panels, specifically the hood? I asked another board member who's going to check for me but was curious from others.

It is next to impossible to see except under super bright bulb(s) and viewed at a 45 degree angle, so we were surmising maybe it's not a hood imperfection, but instead paint or clearcoat issue? I believe there is only one wave roughly above the air box. Thanks for any insight

I have the same thing on my other car, but not on the S....

Guess it all depends on how they paint your car in the factory..
Maybe you got a "Friday" car....

Do you mean orange peel? Do the reflections look kind of like this?

This is normal on most cars today.

Most likely orange peel and I wouldn't call that normal. At least it shouldn't be normal. Orange peel = poor paint prepping.

I thought the orange peel was done purposely so the dirt comes off easier, kind of like the bumpy paint on the lower panel of the sides, where it is painted bumpier so dirt washes off easier.

That's different.. Some cars have that "bumpy" paint at the bottom for some sort of protection. Orange peel is paint that's not perfectly smooth, and when you see relections in it it looks like the peel of an orange. Next time you wash your car look at the reflection in the hood/side, and you'll see what we're talking about.
