Paint damaged in service
OK, first I know everyone has opinions about how crappy it can be taking these cars in for basic service, but without time available I didn't have many options this time around. Anyway....
When I got there this morning I stressed to the guy checking in the car for service that I did not want the car washed. 3 times I told him, but on the paperwork that went back with the car didn't seem to include this minor detail.
3 hours later when I get back to pick up the car, of course the first thing I see is the swirls on the hood as it comes around the corner & the sunlight hits it after they *washed the fk'n car*. Pissed as I was at that moment, I new I'd better take closer look at the car. Unfortunately, this only lead to further issues as I found a 2" they chip in the paint along the edge of the bumper where it meets the bottom of trunk lid and another 1" just around the corner on the passenger side. Then I see the gashes on the front chin spoiler where they obviously scraped it taking it for a *test drive* around the block. First the tech tries to tell me it didn't leave the lot, but when I confront him about the 1.5 mi increase in mileage, he says that they must have taken it out to *test the brakes*
At this point the assistant manager starts to get involved (GM & main service manager were out for the day) saying they will take care of the problems, but isn't sure quite what they will do to fix it yet. Also, since it's a Saturday, now I have to wait until Monday to find out what will be done with it. All told the damage was this :
Is it unreasonable to expect them to respray the entire car so the paint matches completely (not that they would probably offer this up front)? I searched and saw some other instances of dealer damage, but most were from another car hitting it.
Anyone have any suggestions to what I should expect them to do?

- 2 chips in the paint on the rear bumper along the seam.
- Swirl marks on the hood.
- Scraped chin.
- Dirt/soap/wax/water (not really sure what exactly) stains on the convertable top (I didn't mention this before, but was another issue from their washing it).

I would start by writing a letter to American Honda. This is just so they know about it. Take pictures like there's no tomorrow. Contact the Better Business Bureau. That's all I can think of for now.
...oh yeah, and find somewhere else to go for service.

I'd only talk to the GM - first thing monday morning on the phone. I'd tell him I was very upset and ask if he has put together a plan to fix the situation. Don't tell him what you want. Wait for him to come up with something. Whatever he offers, have something else ready to ask for.
I wouldn't be surprised if you got a hard top or something else big out of it.
I would be suprised if you needed the car painted. A really good detail shop should be able to make it look better than new. Make them have it wet sanded at a detail shop if you have to. Painting it won't look as good.
It goes without saying that taking it back to the same shop after all this is over would be really dumb.
Post the name of the dealership in the blackball area of this board if you really want to after it's resolved.
