Default Painting parts...

I'm debating on getting a new lip and selling my oem one, yet i'm curious as to how difficult it will be to paint such lips on my own. Where does everyone buy the proper paint from, and how much is it typically?

thanks...

Dewey

I'm pretty sure the normal thing to do is take it to a body shop...

No offense intended but just the questions you are asking would indicate that you do not have the ability to paint the lip yourself sucessfully.

If you were an experienced body painter, you would already know where to get the proper type of paints, primer, prep solvents, thinners, clear coat, etc. (not that I know any of that). Even if you were a reasonable amateur painter, you would play hell trying to match the silverstone.

I would just take it to a body shop. It would be cheaper than you think (no more than a couple hundred).

There is actually a "HOW TO" paint a lip by Xviper in the FAQ section of the 'Technical' Subsection of "Under the Hood" forum.
Any competent body shop can mix the paint to the paint code. A GOOD body/paint shop might actually be able to mix a good match to silverstone, which doesn't often match the actual code in my experience.
Good luck,
Mike

You'll be better off taking it to a body shop. You dont want to spend all that money on a lip and halfass the paint. IMO.

P.S I'll buy your oem lip off you is it's for sell!
