Default Parking Brake light staying on

Hey guys,

Today was the 2nd time this has happened to me - the red "BRAKE" light will be on on the dash after I have the parking brake all the way down. It stayed on for about a half mile then turned itself off. Last time it happened, it stayed on for a good 15 miles.

Whats odd is that there is no audible beep like there would be when driving with the parking brake on - only the light.

I do park with the parking brake on, and pull it up pretty much all the way. Hopefully this isn't causing the sensor to bind, but at the same time, I would think that if it was the sensor, the car would beep too.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

check the levels on your brake fluid and the light bulbs in the rear brake lights. Those will trigger the dash light too, not just the parking brake.

older model like 00-03, the sensor (round white plastic) in reservoir sinks to the bottom might cause the brake light to come on. it happened to my 00, i had to replace the reservoir.

And if the fluid in your reservior is low, make sure you check your brake pads and rotors for end of life....

I'll check it tomorrow. Could be a good time to do SS lines too.

I just had the front pads replaced and the rotors turned about 10k miles ago, so they should be alright, but I'll check closer.
