Default Brake light is on

While driving home on tuesday my brake light came on. i tested the switch by trying to lower the top with the E-brake on and it worked fine. With the E-brake off the top doesnt move. i guess this means the switch is ok.
So who wants to take a guess at this one ?

One last note, I checked brake fluid and everything is ok.

I guess this means a trip to the... the .... the ..... dealer.(it hard to say the D word)

Just a total shot in the dark, but maybe you had a bulb burn out. I don't know if the lamp illuminates if we loose a bulb, but it is worth checking out.

Doesn't your brake light come on when your pads are wearing out???? I believe there is a sensor that checks for that. Might want to check that first.

The owner's manual says that if the brake light comes on when the emergency brake is not on, it indicates a problem with the brake system. I would not mess around with this. As others have suggested, it is easy enough to determine whether it is just a burned out brake light. If that isn't it, take it to the dealer immediately. You could take it to a reputable mechanic of your choice, but then you better get out your checkbook.

It was the brake reservior level sensor. They reset the sensor and ordered a new one. They claim its the first time they've seen
