Parking lot tactics
I've had my car about a month and so far haven't had any dings. Aside from parking as far away from stores as possible, are there any other suggestions for avoiding dings to the doors from other parked cars?

As you can see, I've put some of thinking into this
... This is what I've done so far to avoid dings in both my cars. Hopefully I can keep them both ding free! *knock on wood*

Never parking close is a big one, like you already said. I try to park in areas where there's no other cars. I always look for a corner parking space, that way that eliminates the possibility of door dings on one side of me. If you can get a corner space with a median in front of you, its even better, that means the chances of someone in front of you driving up are less. Assuming you pull in, the best corner spaces are the ones where your driver side is the one at "risk". This is because on the other side, you're guarenteed if someone parks next to you that they're going to open their door (assuming they pull in). By leaving your driver's side "at risk" there's a chance the person parking next to you will be by themselves and the passenger door won't open. This is especially true if you're parking in a lot for work. Corner spaces are also good because they're usually a little bit wider. If you hug the curb (be sure not to curb your rims!), it will give the person next to you extra space so hopefully they won't hit the car next to you.

No matter how far I park, theres bound to be one person that parks next to me no matter how many spaces are OPEN!!

VERY true! i guess people admire our cars, but that always gets me nervous. i always end up doing a walk around my car after to double check. last week, a coworker told me that he saw a guy taking pics of my car in the parking lot! i didn't catch the guy, but i hope he's not a poser!
the week before that, a potential buyer for an '04 asked everyone in the building where i work "whose car is that?" to track me down. needless to say, we may have a new member here soon.

For the most part I drive my Civic to go to the store, shopping...etc. Its been 2 months or ownership and I'm still ding free *touch wood*.
