Also,

1. Park near minivans. They have sliding doors and your chance of dings are less. Moms are careful too.
2. Park near expensive cars. The owners love thier cars and are always careful not to ding your car.
3. Don't park near beat-up cars. They don't care if they hit your car.
4. Don't park near two-doors. They have longer doors and if its a beat up 2-door car, double your risk.

when ever you have a nice car, someone will be envious and try to damage, or vandalize it. I watched people bang doors, shopping carts in to cars with no reguard. no matter where you park, there out to get you! now I must go to my anger management group..

S2KMontreal, I don't think any of us would like polymer door panels like the Saturns. Have you not noticed how wide the gaps are between body panels? Plastics expand and contract depending on temperature, so the only way they can be used is if a wider gap is acceptable to the buyer. I don't know of any high-end or luxury Saturn being built.

My parking lot at work is pretty much the only lot that I am afraid of that I can't avoid. I have tried to get to know all of the pople with nice cars and they all know me and we try to park together and are careful of each other's cars. I think parking garages for the subway are the worst and I try to avoid them with the S at all costs. Also, if you are at a supermarket or another place with carriages, try to park at the highest spot so that when people let them go, they don't roll into you.

Don't park in a way that attracts negative attention, ie. don't take up more than one space, don't make it impossible for someone to park next to you, and don't cut someone off to take a spot.

when you park far away from other cars, you always take the chance of your car being broken into. although it can happen to anyone anywhere, you parking your car at a deserted place makes it easier for thieves to do their job.

also, rich people could care less about door dings. only car enthusiast care for such thing. 99% of the people i know do not care about door dings, and they sure dont give a crap about hitting other peoples car with their doors .
