Default partial clear hood

the audi r8 has me grumbling with envy with its 800 buck LED engine bay option. would it be possible to cut an oem hood, fit it with a clear cover and light the engine bay on our cars? i know it seems poser-ish, but i honestly believe the f20c is a engineering marvel that deserves to be showcased. imagine, you unlock with the key fob, bay slowly glows, matching the red start button and turns off when u push it. take key out and it glows again for 1 min after you leave.

it's called polycarb and it works pretty cool. I used to wheel with a guy who had made polycarb valve cover tops, a firewall and a poly window into his rear diff cover. It was pretty cool looking at the big Caddy 500 running w/windows on the valve covers, the whole top of the cover was polycarb, I think he riveted or screwed it on, sealed it with some RTV.

Might be neat on a show car.

Actually the guy that did it owns a shop here in the Ptown area and is quite well known for quality and custom OFF_ROAD work, but...like I just said, it was in on OFF ROAD only FJ45 buggy.

So, 44runner, does that mean you have a d44 in your runner? I've got a hi-pinion 44 in the front of mine w/a detroit.

I remember that a retailer was selling carbon/clear hoods at one point, basically just like you described. Carbon fiber for the whole hood, clear plexiglass almost over the valve cover.

The newest Super Street has a White Fit on the cover, it has some "windows" on the valve cover and you can see the cams..pretty cool looking.

The only thing I would think would be a little cool is a clear valve cover. A clear hood is just stupid IMHO.
