Default Parting Out... How much can I expect

Ok I have a 2001 S with a Motor goin bad.... Hasnt quite blown but on its way. The bearings on the crank are shot. I have thought about replacing the motor and selling but I only owe 6800 on it. I was wondering what eveyone thought I could bring in if I parted it out. It has 43000 on the clock and a brand new Top from honda still in the wrapper. Everything else besides the motor is great condition. Maybe some guesses on how much everything could go for...

I've seen ads for good engines for as low as $2200. I would carefully compare that vs parting out. Sounds like it would be worth $10000 with a good engine.

Depends on what your time is worth and how handy you are with a wrench.

Without a motor, I'm not sure you'll get more than $6800 for it. And that's with a whole lotta PITA to dismantle and ship out.

It also begs the question of, "How badly was the car abused to toast a motor in 43,000 miles?!!!"

For example, the differential might not be in the best shape with that kind of wear.

For ~$3000 you could get a replacement engine and have a functional car. If you part out, you'll break even and still have to put in ~$3000 to get something to replace it as a car.

That's just my $0.02. It really comes down to how much your time is worth.

I guess you also could consider selling it before the engine goes completely to someone who is going to build it for track. If it's in as good condition otherwise as you say it is, someone would probably pick it up for $6000 in running condition with a dying motor.
