Default Passenger Airbag Cover Problem

Hi guys, I have a problem with the passenger airbag cover, does somebody know if it's possible to open it (without crashing the car into a wall ) ?

Thanks,

Gianluca

I would say that is a bad idea. What's the problem?

What's your problem? I occasionally think that mine appears slightly mis-colored / or perhaps slightly mis-formed ... but then I get side-tracked ...

Have fun,
Derek

The center of my passenger airbag cover is a little bit "flabby" (probably caused because often I leave the car under the sun), it's like you're pushing lightly with the finger the middle of the cover, I have the same result without pushing on it !
So I would try to open it and see if I can, somehow, solve the problem.

What's your problem?

sixtynine,
I have seen a few like that. Personally, I would take it to the dealer and have it replaced. I would hate to damage the airbag and get stuck with that bill.

johnyboy32: what you said it's what I did, the problem is that the dealer told me that the cover (like spare part) comes with the whole passenger airbag so they can't replace it under warranty for a silly problem like that. I would try to open it by myself only if someone of you tell me how to do it, otherwise I have no problem to leave it as it is.

I would really be afraid to open the airbag in anyway. You are talking about a small explosive, and very expensive part if you mess up.
Maybe try going to another dealer (or even back to your dealer), and tell them you feel that it might be defective. You would like it replaced so that you know it will go off when needed. Make it seem as you really feel that it's a safety problem not a cosmetic one.

i agree with not a z3. emphasize to your fckn dealer that it is a safety issue and if anything should go wrong you will sue their ass off. the easiest route is to go to another dealer though. i had very bad experience with ACURA OF SERRAMONTE( again, that's ACURA OF SERRAMONTE, Daly City, California) with my TL over a cosmetic problem, but another dealer happily fixed it to my satisfaction without a word and gave me a loaner too. most dealers are jackasses, you just have to find one who is willing to work with you.

I'm with s22k...demand that your dealer fix your car. If they don't, try another one or contact the regional service rep. for Honda.

You all, guys, are right the problem is that my dealer should sell potatoes instead of Honda cars, the only S2k that he has seen is mine and his mechanic, until few months ago, thought that the S2k was a front drive car with a 6V engine!!!! (I'm not joking! )
So you can imagine what kind of people I have to argue with, I'm going to have my clutch replaced under warranty and I don't really feel like starting a new battle for the airbag. Others dealers are far away and, honestly, it is not so a big problem (you have to look at the cover well to see the imperfection).
